Less than two months till I jet off to Europe. People, two months?! As well as having wayyy too much to do before I go, I'm starting to wonder about all the little bits and pieces that one wonders about when planning a holiday. 

Today it's, 'what the hell do I wear on the plane'? ... It's especially tough when you go from winter to summer - want to combine comfort with style - oh and, did I mention I'm on a budget? Ugh. ... Ahh but here's some inspiration! Terry Richardson for MANGO - Spring 2011... 

I own a white blazer... hmm there's an idea! Now just to get a nice pair of (comfy) red or electric blue pants?

Leopard belts & Camel coats

The hype over neutral colours this season has me very, very excited! I am a huge lover of tan/beige/camel/coffee colours ... as well as whites and blacks .. In fact, lately, my wardrobe mainly consists of garments in these neutrals. That's not to say I don't like splashes of colour, because I do, very much indeed! 

On the weekend I met up with my fellow blogger friend SheWoreItWell for brunch, and I met her new lil (absolutely gorgeous and serious attention grabbing) puppy, Monty. This lil fella is the cutest lil fluff-ball I've ever seen! If anything will change my single status, it has to be someone like Monty, because there was not one person who walked by that didn't stop to say 'hello' to Monty! Cute lil bugger! I'm getting myself 'a Monty', no joke. I'll post pictures in another post to follow, but for now I just wanted to show you my outfit...

Alterations . . .

Maxi dresses aren't usually my 'thaaang'.. but this 100 per cent silk, Honey&Beau dress was irresistible! In fact, I think we were meant to be as when I first tried it on in store, back in September last year... I didn't buy it, I thought , where would I wear it? Then a month ago, I saw it on sale (down to $90 from $249), tried it on again and I suddenly had the perfect occasion for it! My cousin's wedding in Europe this year! It's so summery, it's perfect! BUT, and there's always a but isn't there ... I thought I might alter it a little bit.

I thought to add a side-split to it, it gives it a bit of an edge? What do you guys think? I have a handy lady who can do absolutely anything to clothing, so I've no doubt she'd be able to achieve something wonderful as such! 

White's the new black? No?

Below are snaps from the latest swimwear collection by Lisa Maree - an Australian designer. 

Now, my reason for bringing these photos up - aside from the fact that I am 2.5 months away from summer, is to get your opinion - question is, to tan or not to tan? 

It seems a tan just lifts one's spirits and we all feel more attractive with a tan? Now I've tried to push a pale's the new tan thing, but all that came of it were a bunch of 'why are you looking so sickly?' type questions. In other words, #fail. 

I am very afraid of artificial light, so I stray right away from that.. but I do slap on the ol' fake-tan from time to time, even though I despise doing it! Argh ... what are we going to do, people? 

Well, I'll be re-stocking my sun-tan in July, but somehow I feel like we need a long-term solution here, don't you?! 

The below photos do not help the pale cause, I know! On the other hand, people of Asia (where whitening creams are all the rage) would probably feel like puking at their sight. Hmmm ... certainly does make me think - why is the grass always greener on the other side for us, humans? Colourblindness? Hear, hear!

Floral print shoes

I impulse-bought a pair of floral-print platform shoes from a small shop on Sydney's Oxford St last December. Now, I'm a block-colours and neutrals type of girl, so this was very much indeed an impulse buy. I loved how alternative they looked on my foot in the store (see last picture below), but ever since, for the life of me I have not been able to figure out a way to wear them -insert sad face-. 

I know that winter is upon us here in Melbourne-Aus, but for me it is very much spring as I intend on jetting off into the European summer come June! Yay! So, the fact that these shoes are rather spring-y, doesn't at all bother me!

I will be posting quite a few items on eBay soon, and these shoes may very well be 'given the boot', but if you guys can give me some suggestions as to how to wear them, I may give them a go before I sell them off!

Style advisors at your beck n' call...

The other day, I found myself playing relay with my bathroom mirror and bedroom mirror in a frantic attempt to get ready, on time! The outfit issue for the night was choosing which belt to wear, we've all had these at some point, or a lot of points, no? 

Being home alone did not help my cause either - as I didn't have brother's trusty opinion to go by (...would have been something along the lines of, 'Show me the first one. Now show me the second one. First one again. Hmm. I'm not sure, I like both,' see, here's a man well trained in answering women's outfit cries! Haa!) My mum, the most critical style-advisor I know, was also absent! Now, this is where I just thought, 'Oh-em-Gee! Twitter!'. Clearly, the many bloggers I follow on twitter could help a sister out!?' And true it turned out! 

I posted two photos and was advised accordingly (I'll take this opportunity to say thank you to those ladies!)... the option I went with was picture 3.

Also, fyi ...they are seriously, unbelievably painful. I had to have a double dose of every drink to numb the pain - it worked, but bohooohoyy did I feel the pain the next day! 

Confessions

I have come again to confess my sins. Or sins to come. They haven't yet been committed, but I feel even the mere thought of what I was thinking to do is a sin. Furthermore, I'm thinking that if I confess, half will be forgiven & even better... after venting, perhaps I won't feel the need to committ them at all? Or here's hoping. Hah!

Honestly, Witchery do not ever help my cause, the cause of 'saving my pennies'. I just can't help myself when I see beautiful, quality, amazingly textured pieces of clothing ...

You tell me, how does one resist? Am I crazy? I think I have way too much love to give to clothes.. perhaps this is also why I have barely any love to give to men.. men just tend to do my head it! Clothes, clothes .. they never make me roll my eyes at them, or make me want to introduce my palm to their cheek at a very fast speed!

I'm throwin' on my Louboutins ... !

In the words of J.Lo, "I'm throwin' on my Louboutins ... !"  .... This is what I'll be doing for the first time ever - as I am now a proud owner of Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120 patent pumps!

 

I'm having these shipped from the UK (Net-a-porter). Really, couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the size 38 was available. I jumped at them immediately as I've been eyeing them off for way too long now, and there just never seemed to be any left in my size, ever! So this was a sign. (As was every other shoe purchase, right? lol).

Anyway, as I've been in need of some serious retail therapy, these are heaven sent. Clearly! I also apologise to those of you who have found my blog mildly interesting, for my MIA ... I guess I thought I'd have more time to blog while on uni-break, but it turns out I just have more responsibilites. I think I'm going to stay in uni for a while longer, por che no? Life is good. In my final year now ...  ahh law school will send me to my grave.

So, provided these arrive before next weekend - my friend's 25th is on Saturday and we've got an apartment in the city and have planned a massive girls night out - I plan to couple them with a red tube dress from Kookai, which is 'toight like a tiger' ... now I just have to go easy on the chocolate this week and this should work out! haha Here's hoping!

Painting the town RED

For me, the past weekend mostly revolved around friends, food and boogie nights! Holidays are really wonderful I must say. Even though I am working 10-12 hour days on weekdays, I know that come the weekend, I can devote more time to myself. I have more time to scrub up a little better, NOT go to the gym (..usually! Although if I end up having a creamy gnocchi dish at 3am on a Saturday night, post-painting it red, as was the case this time (it seemed like a good idea at the time, ok?), the guilt will not quit tormenting me all of Sunday until I drag myself for a good cardio session). Crap, (bracket) over-kill? Woops.

Anyway! I caught up with a friend for some dessert goodness and a good old chat at passionflower on Bourke St in Melbourne - check it out, it's pretty up there with Max Brenner I reckon. Also check out the photo below of the chocolate strawberry crepes I had! Yum. Speaking of which, I decided today that I am quitting sugar. Don't laugh! This is for real! My friend M/SheWoreItWell has awakened a realisation within me - sugar is a drug! It is more addictive than cocaine. True story. It's bad for you for so so many reasons - read her blog-post on the issue to find out more. Who knows, you may also be inspired like I was. See how we go, eh? Sugar-holics-are-us anyone?

I love sparkly things, so when I stumbled upon this awesome mirrored knit on witchery.com, I was ecstatic! Had to have it, I needed it. How many times have you heard/said that before? Go on, tell me.. so I know I'm not alone - there are many clothes obsessed freaks out there like me, surely?

The knit made its debut on Saturday night. First time I painted the town red since my exams. I finally felt like a real human being! You know, not existing merely online.. somewhat like an 'avatar'. It was nice! 

So I matched the knit with a navy blue Kookai high waisted skirt. I love these skirts, I want one in every colour! They are so comfortable and too easy to dress up or down - perfect for summer and summer trips! So far I have a blood orange in it and the navy - thinking of getting a grey one too.. hmmm...

On my radar!

Now you may remember me blogging about and lusting over these Vionneti sandals which were 557 pounds on net-a-porter. WELL. I've discovered a very similar pair by Windsor Smith here in Aus.. and they're prettyy awesome and much more affordable!

Hmm... to buy or not to buy.. that is the question!?

It was meant to be!

Do you ever get the feeling that you and a pair of shoes are just meant to be? This extends to you and a certain dress, you and a top, blazer.. so on and so forth! It happens to me from time to time. As much as I tried to not purchase these wedge shoes - they followed me around (excuse the pun!). No, really! I saw them for the first time while out shopping with my brother - I was helping him decide on a couple of new shirts and shoes and had no intention of spending any money myself, and I did as I had intended. Then, the next time I saw the wedges, I couldn't help but to try them on - they really hit the shoe spot for me! They were the perfect summery tan colour and sky-high, just the way I like my wedges! But the price-tag was not as perfect, AUD$179. I mean, they weren't too expensive, but I just didn't want to spend the money then. So I didn't. A week later I tried them on again, as you do.. but didn't purchase yet again. I ended up thinking about them after that, from time to time... so during my exam study procrastination period I googled to see if the store had an online shop - it said 'Online store coming soon'. And there they were, at over 50% off for $80! A rush of excitement came over me - as it does! Eighty dollars! I needed to have these, they wanted to be mine - it was clear! So for the next week I waited to see if this online store would finally open, but it didn't! Then I noticed on twitter that the store had 50% off everything for 3 days.. I noticed on the 3rd day at 11pm - I was just a bit shattered at this point. They kept teasing me! But all was not lost, as I walked into the store today, of course not expecting to find my babies, there they stood.. still on sale... but would they have my size!? "Last size 8!" said the sales-assistant! It was meant to be, see!

Life's Luxuries

I attended the Harper's BAZAAR & Belvedere "Life's Luxuries - a night with Sibella Court" event at Comme in Melbourne, thanks to my friend SheWoreItWell whom scored two invites - woot!

It was a night filled with yummy canapes & LOTS of belvedere vodka cocktails .. and boy were they strong! Not that I'm complaining!

Everyone who attended (and there were around fifty attendees or so), received a gift bag valued over $400rrp. Gift bag included the following:

The goodies are amazing! I have to say that the Cire Trudon candle has given my room the most pleasant aroma - and I haven't even lit it yet! The new Marc Jacobs fragrance is soo intriguing! It is unisex and has an amazing femme fatale vibe about it - I guess I can definitely see how it can be worn by both sexes. I really like it! Also, the Morrocanoil smells divineee!! It leaves hair amazingly silky and shiny without that weigh down and oiliness. Lastly, I'm expecting the La Prairie cream to give me miracle skin, considering it is priced at over $1500 !! I know! I'll get back to you if I do wake up one day soon with modelesque skin. Oh and the vodka, of course.. I'm saving it for a special occasion.. I think I had enough cocktails to last me a while anyway, see below!

Also, Sibella Court (for those who don't know), is a very highly esteemed interior designer. She is also a judge on the ch9 TV Show HomeMADE and Interiors Editor for Grazia magazine.
